The challenge

The Student Housing Company is a nationwide accommodation provider, offering private student halls in many of the UK’s leading university cities.

With mental health among students being a key concern of the client, they asked theEword to launch a Mental Health and Wellbeing at University campaign to change attitudes and encourage people to talk more openly about it.

Key Objectives

Raise awareness about mental health issues among students in the UK.
Strengthen existing relationships between The Student Housing Company and mental health charities and organisations, such as Mind and Time to Change.
Position The Student Housing Company as more than just an accommodation provider and one that truly cares about the welfare of students.

Our approach

We recruited and engaged with university students, and encouraged them to talk about their experiences with mental health.

We surveyed a large pool of students and alumni and then used the results to create various pieces of powerful content, including an infographic, press releases, guest articles and a comprehensive mental health guide.

The visual components along with the more in-depth educational material helped the campaign to appeal to a widespread audience. Using multiple formats allowed the survey results to be digested in different engaging ways across a variety of platforms, including print, online and social media.
