Social media fans are due to meet up in Manchester on Sunday for a Twitter-inspired picnic. Set to take place from 1pm in the pleasant surroundings of Spinningfields, the event sees Twitter users throughout Manchester gather for informal meetup.
The occasion, which is part of a wider weekend of picnic-related activity in Spinningfields, has been widely circulated across social media. Indeed, the Twitter profile for the event (@MancTwitnic) has amassed just over 1,000 followers.
Popular Manchester SEO and digital news site How-Do.co.uk commented on the social media celebration:
"The idea is to take local fans of the social networking medium out of cyberspace and into the real world - allowing them to actually meet and socialise properly with one another".
Although the event is by no means the first time Twitter users in Manchester have met face-to-face. Indeed, the city hosts regular events for those interested in social media, including Social Media Cafe (which was held earlier this week).
While some of theEword team will be heading over to the Manchester Twitnic this week, the Spinningfields area of the city is by no means unfamiliar; the company work closely with the Hubbub Event, a new exhibition set to run in the district in October.
Those interested in the Manchester Twitnic can follow its official account or Spinningfields on Twitter for the latest news.
