A reworked browser promises to give the best ever performance on limited connections, suggesting to designers that it could become the portal of choice for on-the-move business consumers with weak wi-fi connections.

Opera 10, which is available on Windows, Macs and Linux computers, is a free browser boasting an innovative new technology called Opera Turbo.

This tool automatically detects when network speeds have dropped to a level where it could improve performance, then begins instantly compressing pages.

It means less data needs to be transferred in order to view pages, which translates into faster web browsing for users with limited connections.
